We are on track for a record breaking number of dealer and exhibit tables for this year's show, now exceeding 330!. This year we also welcome back Dan DeCosmo and his "Roaming Railroad" train ride for kids in the Main Concourse of the Empire State Plaza. Remember, there are many other Holiday events going on at the Plaza on show day culminating in the Capital Tree Lighting at 5pm. If you want a bite to eat, Au Bon Pain will be served breakfast and lunch in the Northeast gallery near the GTE ticket booths. Come and enjoy a great day of fun and family activities at the biggest and best model train show in the Capital Region!

As we approach the October 31st deadline to submit show registrations we have over 260 dealer and exhibit tables for this year's show and are on track to sell out our Empire State Plaza venue again for the third straight year! Most of the dealers you have come to know and some new faces will be coming to the show with a wide variety of model railroad and toy train items for sale including model trains, train sets, parts and accessories, building kits, scenery items, book s, videos, DVDs, photographs...ever y thing related to model trains and railroading.

Currently 9 layouts of all scales, shapes and sizes are coming to the show, including Matt Savatgy's famous LEGO layout, Dave Newton's wonderful 7/8 inch to the foot Maine narrow gauge Western Wiscasset & Northern Ry (over 90 feet long!), relative newcomers HO scale Albany Free-Mo, Nick Savatgy and the Hudson Valley Large Scale R.R. Club (bigger and better than ever), Leroy Well's highly detailed N-scale New York Central layout, and are old friends the Albany N-Trak N-scale modular club and Catskill Adirondack and Berkshire HO scale modular club.

There will also be numerous smaller exhibits to enjoy like Mr. Amtrak's (Jim O'Hare) modular display of all varieties of Amtrak equipment, Robert Sandbothe's ever popular N-scale winter layout, our circus friends Gordon Turner and Steve Prtyka (who does not like elephants and snake charmers?), Bill Brown's cityscape as well as historical societies and scenic railroad exhibits.

Preparations are now underway for the 2017 Great Train Extravaganza! Over 450 dealer and exhibitor registrations are being sent out by the end of July and we are anticipating another sold out show like the previous two years. Get your dealer and exhibitor registrations in early to make sure you reserve your space at the show! We expect to see many great layouts of all scales and one of the crowd favorites LEGO layout is coming back this year too. Stay tuned for more news.

The Great Train Extravaganza is pleased to announce our clinic schedule this year sponsored by Hudson Berkshire Division of the NMRA. There will be 2 clinics to be held in Meeting Room 7 next to the Egg. These clinics are free and packed full of useful information and tips for beginning model railroaders and collectors.

Train Talk with Engineer Mike
This clinic is an introduction to the world of toy trains and model railroading by Mike Beverly, who is a real train engineer! Learn all about the basics of model trains like what are the different scales, what is the difference between "scale" and "gauge", what is the difference between and power pack and a transformer, and both real and model railroad terminology.

Make and Take Your Own HO Scale Box Car Model
Members of the Hudson-Berkshire Division of the National Model Railroad Association will guide you step-by-step to build a free HO scale box car kit you keep and run on your layout when you are done! Limited quantities so don't miss this free clinic at the show. Tickets available at the show from the Head Table.
